Jim has twenty-five years of business experience in a Big 5 consulting environment, including partner and managing director responsibilities with both Arthur Andersen and Deloitte & Touche, and is a Certified Management Consultant. In 2001, he launched his own firm, JD Warren Associates LLC.

Jim has successfully utilized these skills throughout his career in varied situations and diverse settings, from building and managing consulting practices, to leading large computer implementations, to advising senior management and building political consensus in public forums -- with organizations from Bay Area startups to global operations. One of Jim’s notable accomplishments was leading the Northern California Arthur Andersen Information Technology practice to excellence in innovation, execution, and financial performance.

Jim can quickly see the possibilities in a new idea, and uses his keen analytical engineering training to determine the concept’s feasibility. With his open and “bring down the barriers” management style, he challenges diverse teams and groups in the free-form discussion and technical input critical to making an idea a reality. Using his business skills, he assists the team in creating the road map, and in developing the measurement systems to ensure that the goal is achieved. He is focused on success, but also recognizes the importance of integrating the values of the team with the goals of the organization. Once the goal has been achieved, Jim ensures that the next generation team is trained.

Jim attended The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and was concurrently awarded a BSE (cum laude) in Industrial and Operations Engineering and a BA (with distinction) in Music Literature and Organ Performance. He then earned his MBA in Finance and Information Systems from The University of Michigan Business School. He has volunteered his time to professional societies, arts organizations, business agencies, and civic projects. He is a professional concert organist, and has produced and recorded a solo organ compact disk at Salisbury Cathedral, England. Whenever possible, he likes to spend time at his house in Maui, windsurfing or snow skiing, or sitting at a sidewalk café in Europe.

Served on the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and on the Executive Committee.

Chaired the Public Policy Committee in 1997. Managed the Chamber’s external political strategy development.

Classical organist, performer and sole producer of compact disk “All Through the Night”, recorded at Salisbury Cathedral, England in 1998. Developed web site www.classicalorganist.com.

Serving on the Mayor’s San Francisco Waterfront Pavilion Committee to create the world’s largest outdoor pipe organ located at the foot of Market Street. Performing fundraising, organ performance consultation and general public relations activities. Expected opening is winter, 2003.
